The mission of the Sierra High School Staff is to increase student achievement through the analysis of student data and the assessment of our instructional practices. We will work collaboratively with our community to assist in creating self-directed learners.

Our Purpose

Sierra High School is celebrating 26 years of educational excellence this 2009-2010 school year. Located on the east side of the Harrison Community, Sierra High School has an excellent academic program and continues to maintain its reputation for academic and athletic success. The students and staff are high achievers who embrace the support of the school's community in a team effort to prepare tomorrow's leaders for success.

The school offers many educational opportunities for students to expand their knowledge and talents. In addition to classes in core curriculum areas, students may choose to participate in advanced placement classes, honors classes, junior/senior job fairs and a wide variety of elective courses and extracurricular activities.

Throughout the school year, Sierra utilizes the school action plan as a means to focus efforts toward improving student achievement.  While there is still work to be done on raising student achievement, Sierra students have made great gains in academic growth according to the Longitudinal Student Growth Model measurement used by the Colorado Department of Education.

Our Educators

The primary goal of the Sierra staff is to foster a learning environment where a positive attitude toward school and learning is prevalent. The Sierra staff is a committed team of educators who continually study the best instructional practices and go above and beyond to meet students' needs. Classroom teachers and administrators meet on a monthly basis to align curriculum, review student achievement data, make improvements and give feedback on the progress of various educational programs. Sierra values high quality teachers and offers many opportunities for professional development to all staff members.

Dedicated staff members sponsor many clubs and programs that provide opportunities for students to expand their growth and interests.
